How to use SSC Photo Resizer

  1. Choose your exam. The photo and signature sizes it asks for are filled in for you.
  2. Add your photograph, a plain background headshot. It is cropped and compressed right away.
  3. Add your signature, photographed in black ink on white paper. The blank paper is trimmed off.
  4. Check both previews, then download them separately for the two upload boxes on the form.

What the presets hold

Each preset carries the photo and signature sizes that exam portal has asked for in recent cycles, so you do not have to look them up. The most common pairing by far is a 200 × 230 px photograph at 20-50 KB and a 140 × 60 px signature at 10-20 KB, which SSC, IBPS and most bank exams share.

The numbers are a starting point, not an authority. Every box on the page can be edited, so when a notification states something different, type it in and the tool follows you rather than the preset.

Why uploads get rejected

  • Off by a few hundred bytes. "Under 50 KB" means under 51,200 bytes, and some older portals mean under 50,000. The tool aims comfortably below the limit for this reason.
  • Below the minimum. Many portals also reject files that look suspiciously small. If the result lands under the stated minimum, you get a warning rather than finding out at the upload screen.
  • Wrong dimensions. Hitting the KB limit by shrinking the image is the easy mistake, because most forms check the pixel size too. This tool fixes both at once.
  • The photo itself. Plain background, face filling most of the frame, no cap or sunglasses. Some exams also want a date or name strip across the bottom, which you must add before uploading.

A worked example

Choose SSC CGL, add a 4 MB phone photo and a photograph of your signature. The photo is cropped from the centre to 200 × 230 px and compressed to roughly 25-45 KB. The signature is trimmed to the ink, turned grey, redrawn at 140 × 60 px and compressed to roughly 10-18 KB. Both download separately, named so you can tell them apart at the upload screen.

Limits worth knowing

  • The crop is from the centre. Crop roughly first if your face is off to one side.
  • The tool does not add the date and name strip some exams want, and does not check that your photo meets the appearance rules.
  • Keep your original photo. The next form will want a different size, and you want to start from the full-resolution image rather than from a 20 KB copy.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes do SSC forms ask for?

The presets hold the photo and signature sizes recent SSC cycles have used. Every notification sets its own rules, so check yours and edit the boxes if the numbers differ.

Why was my upload rejected when the size looked right?

Usually one of four reasons: the file is a few hundred bytes over the cap, it is below the minimum the portal also enforces, the pixel size is wrong even though the KB size is right, or the photo itself breaks the appearance rules.

Can I use this for IBPS, RRB or NTA exams?

Yes. There are presets for IBPS and most bank exams, for RRB, and for NTA exams such as NEET and JEE. Anything not listed can be typed into the boxes.

Do I need a date and name strip on the photo?

Some exams ask for one and this tool does not add it. Check your notification. If it is needed, add the strip to your photograph before you bring it here.

Why is my signature converted to grey?

Grey compresses much smaller than colour, which is what makes a tight KB limit reachable while keeping the strokes readable. It is also what exam portals expect.
