Files to merge

No files added yet. Add at least two PDFs to merge them.

Drag a row to move it, or use the ↑ and ↓ buttons. The order here is the page order in the merged file.

How to use Merge PDF

  1. Add the PDFs you want to combine, or drop them on the box. You can keep adding more later.
  2. Put them in the right order. Drag a row, or use the up and down buttons. The list order becomes the page order.
  3. Remove anything you added by mistake with its Remove button.
  4. Press Merge PDFs, then download the combined file.

What happens to your pages

Pages are copied across whole. Text stays selectable, fonts stay embedded, images are not re-encoded, and bookmarks within a page are kept. The merged file is roughly the size of the originals added together, because nothing is thrown away.

Some document-level extras do not survive a merge. Form fields, digital signatures, attachments and the outline tree belong to the original file rather than to any page, so they are left behind. If a document is signed and the signature matters, merge a printed copy instead.

A worked example

A scholarship application asks for one PDF holding your application form, marksheet and Aadhaar copy, in that order. Add all three files, drag the marksheet above the Aadhaar copy if it landed in the wrong place, check the page counts on each row, and press Merge. A 4-page form, a 2-page marksheet and a 1-page ID give a 7-page file, which the summary line confirms before you download.

Limits worth knowing

  • Everything is held in your device's memory, so the practical ceiling is about 500 MB in one batch. A budget phone will struggle well before a laptop does.
  • PDFs that need a password to open cannot be merged. Remove the password in the app that made the file, then add it again.
  • A damaged or mislabelled file is skipped with an explanation rather than dropped quietly.
  • The merge works offline once the page has loaded. You can switch off mobile data before adding your documents and it will still run.

Frequently asked questions

How many PDFs can I merge at once?

There is no fixed limit, because the work happens on your own device. A phone with little free memory will struggle past a few hundred megabytes; a laptop handles much more. If a big merge fails, do it in two or three batches.

Does merging reduce the quality of my pages?

No. Pages are copied across whole, with their text, fonts and images intact. The merged file looks the same as the originals and is about as big as all of them added up.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

Not one that needs a password to open. Remove the password in the app that made it first. A PDF that only restricts printing or editing usually merges fine.

Can I reorder files on a phone?

Yes. Dragging works on touch screens, but the up and down buttons on each row are quicker on a small display. They also work with a keyboard and a screen reader.

Can I add images to the PDF as well?

Not here, this tool combines PDFs only. Convert your images with the JPG to PDF tool first, then add the result here.
